How to use tickets for public transportation? 

When using public transport, passengers are required to purchase a travel ticket — either a ticket for a specific number of rides or a season (subscription) ticket.

Liepāja’s public transport system uses an electronic ticketing system. This means that to purchase and use e-tickets in advance, passengers must either download the mobile application “Liepājas pilsēta” or purchase an e-card (price: EUR 3.50).

The e-card can be purchased at (map):

• Liepāja Public Transport ticket office (Peldu iela 5),

• Liepāja Tourism Information Office (Rožu laukums 5/6),

• Liepāja Bus Station ticket office (Rīgas iela 71),

• Liepāja Regional Hospital, shop “Grobiņas ziedi” (Slimnīcas iela 25).

It is also possible to purchase a single-ride ticket directly from the vehicle driver by paying with a bank card. The ticket price when purchased from the driver is EUR 1.50.

Any type of ticket purchased in advance must be registered for the trip immediately upon boarding the vehicle. When using the “Liepājas pilsēta” app, the ticket can be registered either by scanning the QR code displayed on the e-ticket reader screen or by entering the vehicle number. When using an e-card, the trip is registered by holding the e-card close to the e-ticket reader and waiting for confirmation.

A ticket purchased from the vehicle driver does not need to be registered; it is valid only for the specific trip on which it is purchased.
